I have all kinds of favorite things and this section will be totally dedicated to sharing all kinds of favorite things.  I think it’s a fun way for us women to gossip (cleanly……..?) and just have a little girl time.  These things can be so simple or they can be big things too.  I prefer the small stuff.  It’s easier to acquire and easier to keep longer!

It goes without saying that anyone who knows me well will tell you how much I love books.  I love to read and you will always see me with a book.  I usually carry one in my vehicle or in my purse, which is deliberately big because I like to carry all sorts of things.  Although some things are not for me exactly; you’ll see an occasional diaper, wipie, or small toy too!

So what do I read?  I like to read all kinds of subjects.  I usually read goth, historical, or modern fiction, biographies, or how-to books.  I don’t care what it is as long as it is interesting and has that can’t-put-it-down element.  I love a good plot, great characters, humor, and I love getting into a story that takes me away somewhere else.  I was a witness at the Salem witch trials, I’ve been the fourth wheel of a three-way marriage, oh, and I learned to play Quiddich too.  It is a good sign if I can get through an entire book or most of it in one sitting.

From time to time I will be letting you know what I’m reading.  How about if I start with what I have in my purse now?  Yes!  I’m reading Murder at the PTA by Laura Alden and so far I like it.  I just started the book so all I can say for right now is that it has a good plot, I’m already immersed in the city where the story takes place and I’m already caught up in a potential new relationship with an old kindergarten friend of a divorced woman of two.  So far, the characters are relatable and I like the humor in it too.  It’s not fake.  I could definitely see myself saying certain things or doing certain things the protagonist does because I’ve been there too.  The book is about a divorced woman of two who runs a book shop in a small town where the local principal is murdered and she takes it upon herself to solve the murder.  Along the way she reconnects with a childhood friend (a beautiful, gorgeous man, of course!) and she is finding her way trying to mind her own business.  If it sounds good to you, you can pick up your copy for $12.  That’s how much I paid for my copy.  I’ll give my report on it as soon as I’m done.

Hasta pronto!  (till next time!)

Murder at the PTA by Laura Alden

So far, so good!

One Response to Books!

I about to finish re-reading The Sleeping Beauty by Mercedes Lackey. This book (along with her other Five Hundred Kingdom books) is her twist and take on fairy tales. I think she does a great job as she goes about it in a very creative manner and gets original in stories that have existed through many generations of storytelling. I really do love fantasy so this is right up my alley. I just finished watching The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King (extended editions) and that has inspired my to read the books which I never have before. I just need to buy them! he he
